A Summer Spotlight – 3 Builds That Define the Season
1. Single-Slip Dock in Keowee Bay | Salem, SC | Installed May 19th, 2025
Where Heritage Meets a Seamless Upgrade
When this Keowee Bay client envisioned an upgrade, their goal was clear: a single-slip dock that elevated day-to-day enjoyment while honoring favorite features of their previous structure. Designed to showcase refined engineering and architectural harmony into a refined lakeside space distinguished by the client’s own discerning tastes. Notably, this project began with close coordination through our Recycle Your Dock program, enabling us to market and promote the pre-owned structure throughout the permitting and construction phases of the new dock build. With the typical three-month build window, this approach provided us ample time to connect buyers, ultimately facilitating the sale and removal of the original dock—a sustainable step that set the tone for the entire upgrade.

This dock embodies that feeling—blending everyday comfort with ecological responsibility to create a true sanctuary for both the homeowner and the lake. Designed around the client’s vision for daily ease and enduring peace of mind, this signature build delivers thoughtful functionality without compromising aesthetics.

- Signature Style, Custom Crafted: This 29′ x 30′ covered dock embodies Kroeger Marine’s signature style, with the ramp and posts finished in painted Burnished Slate—a distinct upgrade from the classic aluminum finish seen on standard docks. The result is a cohesive look further enhanced by rich Walnut Zuri® synthetic PVC decking on all surfaces, including the roof fascia, for enduring beauty and durability.

- Custom-Engineered Pilings System: Anchored by two site-specific, extra-long aluminum pilings (24’ long, 5” diameter, schedule 40) driven 8–10’ into the lakebed and locked to the dock frame with secure aluminum hoops. Unlike standard front or side mounting, this custom configuration was engineered specifically to support the unique corner-mounted ramp—delivering unmatched stability, minimizing side-to-side movement, and virtually eliminating breakaway risk, even in storms.
- Refined Architectural Features: The dock is sheltered by a Burnished Slate hip-style roof, with fascia wrapped in Walnut Zuri® and topped by a metal cupola and standard Blue Heron weathervane.
- Cantilevered Bench Lounge: Includes a 10′ x 10′ cantilevered bench cutout—a unique feature for lakeside relaxation and gathering.
- Superior Boat Protection: Mega bow bumpers are strategically placed at the bow, functioning as a dedicated bow stop for safe, impact-resistant docking. Both fixed and folding cleats allow for versatile, secure mooring based on boating needs.
- Accessories: Features a LakeEze® Ladder with espresso steps.
The dock is paired with comprehensive shoreline restoration—using Oconee Prime Boulders, erosion-control fabric, and native plantings such as Juncus effusus, river oats, and azaleas—to preserve the shoreline’s stability and natural beauty.
